Appreciative Inquiry is a recently developed approach to organizational consulting and intervention, based on a positive mindset. The idea is, most consulting -- most problem solving -- is based, whether we realize it or not, on the scientific "medical model." That is, we identify a problem by diagnosis, then find the "cure." Life, it turns out, is more complicated than that. And people respond better to a positive mindset. That's why doctors are slowly coming around to the "wellness" model.
